Recipe: Simple Health Boosting Infusion

Elderberry Immune Boosting Oxymel

One of our favorite ways to help boost our immune system during the winter months is to mix up some of this DELICIOUS herbal infused goodness.

Traditionally, an Oxymel is a mixture of honey and vinegar, sometimes used as a medicine. In this case, we boost it with an infusion of organic herbs.

This is affectionately called the “HOOCH” by my family as the vinegar adds a bit of kick to the morning routine 😀

‐‐---------------------------------

Here’s our recipe - (fills a 32oz Jar - you can halve ingredients for a smaller batch):

600g Organic Raw Unfiltered Honey
400g Organic Apple Cider Vinegar (with Mother)
60g Organic Elderberries
30g Organic Astragalus Root
20g Organic Elderflowers
20g Organic Echinacea Angustifolia Root
20g Organic Echinacea Purpurea Herb

Note: all herbs and berries must be dried and free from water moisture to reduce the possibility of bacterial or mold growth.

To Make:
Mix it all up in a 32oz jar. Cover the top of the jar with parchment paper before putting on the lid so the vinegar does not come in contact with the metal lid. Shake/turn the jar daily for approximately 4 weeks to disperse the herbs that will settle throughout the liquid. Strain and store in smaller bottles. Take 1 Tablespoon Daily and enjoy!
